RECENT ACHIEVEMENTS
ON FERROUS FOUNDRY POURING MACHINES
MAGOTTEAUX Group confirms their confidence in SERT solutions
MAGOTTEAUX THAILAND:
Mid-2007, MAGOTTEAUX has placed an order with SERT to automate a new pressure pouring furnace to be installed in MAGOTTEAUX Nongkae (Saraburi Province, Thailand).
This furnace will feed a Disamatic 2013.
Automation includes:
- automatic and manual pouring furnace positioning with MAGELLOR
- automatic front channel level / furnace pressure control with LaserNum & Presstrol
- UCERAM automatic mould pouring control with OptoNum twin cameras, adaptive controller and
- DEM MQS high precision electric stopper driving
- UCELOG data storage and analysis software
This order follows a first order placed with SERT in March 2007 for the same plant to revamp the front channel level control system, on another Disa line, including:
- LaserNum level control sensor
- HMD furnace refilling detection sensor
- PLC based controller
- New pneumatic circuit
MAGOTTEAUX BRAZIL:
MAGOTTEAUX Foundry in Contagem, MG, Brazil, placed an order with SERT in April 2007 to implement full automatic mould pouring control on its pressurized furnace. This order is complementing the Teach-In based automation installed in 2006 by SERT.
The additional equipment includes:
- OptoNum twin camera sensor, hardware and software to achieve automatic mould pouring
- MAGELLOR automatic positioning of the pouring furnace
MAGOTTEAUX group experienced SERT UCERAM automatic mould pouring system for the 1st time in 2005.
With this new order, there will now be 4 Disamatic lines in Magotteaux group (1 in Belgium, 1 in Brazil and 2 in Thailand) operating with SERT automation on pressurized pouring furnace

Focus
on DEM9M-MQS120M electric stopper driving
After 23
years of performances improvements with DEM9C, DEM9B electric
servo-actuator, and then MQS120 high precision stopper guiding
system, casters are now offered the top performance design with DEM9M-MQS120M.
The DEM9M-MQS120M is made of
an in-line mounting between the MQS120M stopper guiding system
and the DEM9M.
Main advantages are:
- coupling without
play (backlash) to improve stopper position/flow control
- in-line mounting
to reduce mechanical flexion
- fewer components
and strong design (benefit to system reliability)
- optimal design for
highly dynamic dither
- only 13kg actuator,
light and easy to mount and dismount at operator level
This design,
commissioned the 1st time in 2003, is now implemented
on more than 25 strands of continuous casters and demonstrates
important improvement on level control quality. It is available
with different variant to cope with different casting machine
situations.
