Meniscus level
In continuous casting, it is the level of a molten steel surface in a mould.

Molten metal flow control
Task assigned to the stopper rod or the slide gate, aiming to regulate the flow of molten metal through the nozzle into the mould.

Mould coating
In continuous casting, it is a thin coating of the mould separating the copper wall from the molten metal, where the molten metal congeals. (It also prevents wear on the moulds’ wall and reduces the frictional movement of the slab/bar).
